An evening at Mike Lansing.....

Jason checking to see if Hobart was real...... he thought he was and still does.

It seems as though every company has these lame picnics to raise moral. Unlike the standard company summer picnic......... Colin works for a much more adventurous crowd. They bought us tickets to the Casper Rockies (Colorado Rockies farm team) game and also provided our meal before the game began. To top it off they gave every adult 3 vouchers for beer........ so Colin got 6 of course. We anticipated that it would be fun, but we couldn't have predicted how much Jason would love baseball.

After eating we took our seats right behind home plate and it was on..... Jason watched the first three innings without turning away. He watched every pitch, swing and throw. He clapped a lot and didn't even notice the people around him. At the end of the third inning Colin had to get another beer and Jason wanted to go with him. This is when Jason met a new friend.... Hobart (the purple platypus?). As they walked by Hobart, Jason grabbed his bill and wouldn't let go. He was amazed by this huge purple thing. Colin quickly recovered the situation and was able to get a beer. But the rest of the game had a completely new focus for Jason.

Saying hello to Hobart for the umpteenth time.

After meeting Hobart, all Jason wanted to do was talk to him and touch him. So he had to visit again and again.

Everything was OK, even when Hobart took Jason's hat......

After he took Jason's hat (Jason didn't get mad, he was just confused) the night took another turn. The focus was no longer on the mysterious purple mascot with a bill........ he wanted to play with the big kids.

Yelling at a little girl for sitting too close to him.

All was well until a little girl sat too close to Jason. I guess he is really protective of his personal space because she got an ear full. He watched the big kids go up and down the stands for a few minutes and then he decided to join in. He isn't quite as coordinated as the other kids so Colin had to get his chase on.

Colin herding wild man while he runs up and down the stands like the big kids.

3 innings of running all over the place made for two very tired Moody Men. To our surprise, we made it all of the way through the game. Even though the Rockies lost to the White Sox...... the evening was a success. Everyone had a blast and we all were tired and ready for bed. To top off a perfect picnic............. we were given two loafs of bread on the way out of the stadium, the one thing that I needed to get at the grocery store. What an amazing night........... There will be many baseball games in our future.

The face on that little girl is priceless...

Sounds like you will have to take Jason back again and again and AGAIN. He loved it! So cute...
