The incredible shrinking bed

I am sure every kid has went to bed with their parents. I remember doing it. Now we have Jason who does it. He comes in our room in the middle of the night and says "I bed now." This was cute at first, but now it is really interfering in sleep time. If he could just come to bed and lie still, all would be well, but it could never be that easy. He starts out laying right between Colin and I with his head on the pillow, then the movement begins. Of course he doesn't snuggle close to Colin, but as close as he can get to me. Then the black ops kicking begins. I call it black ops because it isn't a normal kick. It starts with him barely touching me with his leg, then it gets harder and harder (always in a soft spot), before the twisting of his foot starts. It is like torture. He especially love to do this right on my kidney. I always thought a queen bed was plenty large, but now I know why people have kings. Our bed feels like a single when Jason joins us, I can't imagine what it will be like with two kids. Have a great labor day weekend everyone. Be safe and enjoy.

Wild animal

Today's post won't be long, but I figured those of you in the Meeteetse area would appreciate this. My grandpa called last night and being the joker he is asked me when I was planning on camping up at his place again. Knowing my grandpa, there was something going on. He giggled a little and when I said not any time soon, he sounded disappointed. Then I really knew something was going on. He then told me that my uncle and aunt (who live on the river on my grandpas place) had a guest. Evidently Casey (my aunt) was walking on a regularly travelled trail on the river bottom when to her surprise a bear...... oh yes it was definitely a bear........ walked in front of her. She freaked, turned around and headed right back into her house. When she called my grandpa he asked what kind of bear it was and she quickly replied with "How would I know, I got the hell out of there."

The bear has been around there for about a week now. He decided to get into their burn barrels too. He didn't want to take out food or make a mess, he just grabbed a beer box full of empty cans and carefully set it off to the side of the barrels before leaving it.......... Oh, it is a black bear for those of you that are wondering. When the game warden went down to check things out, grandpa showed him where a hole had been dug through the porch of the pump house and partially under the building. The game warden told him that wasn't the bear, but most likely a badger..... Grandpa said his place is being taken over by wild animals. After stopping at the pump house they went over to a rotten tree that had fallen behind my aunt and uncles. All of the limbs had been torn off and they were situated into a nest. This was conveniently behind my uncle and aunts house. When we think nest we usually think mountain lion, but no, it was the bear. I guess they make day nests. This bear has been sleeping behind their house for who knows how long, during the day when there is the most activity. This wouldn't be frightening, but the bear is injured. They don't know what is exactly wrong, but he has a limp.

So, who knows what the game warden will decide, but this just goes to show that Meeteetse is a place where the wild animals love to be. (for those of you that aren't familiar with my grandpas property, it is 4 miles up river from town.) Needless to say, I won't be setting up tent there for a while. Sorry there aren't any pics today, but take care and I will post more later.

Dogs!!

Playing with Moe.

It seems as though Jason has found the same love of dogs that both Colin and I share. Of course it helps that our dogs have been amazing with him. Mae hasn't really left his side since the day we brought him home from the hospital. Moe was a little disgruntled at first, but as long as she could still sleep in the bed and he shared his food, all was well. Now when you look at them with Jason it is hard to imagine life before they had each other. They play, fight, and even sleep together. Jason jumps on the dogs and they don't bite, growel, or snap at him. I am sure one day he will get bitten, but I don't see it happening any time soon. My favorite thing to watch is Jason and Moe fight. The picture shows them playing so well that fighting is hard to imagine. Well, it isn't a normal fight, but it is funny. Moe usually nudges Jason quite a while, knocking his drink from his hand, taking toys from him, and even knocking him over at times. After ignoring her for a while, he gets mad and yells at her. Then Moe retaliates by howling in his face. Jason screams at her again. This back and forth can go on for a quite sometime. It is a sight to behold. He gets in similar fights with Mae, but not on a regular basis. There are times when he picks the fights too. He will bother Moe until she howls and then the same back and forth will take place. I have to say that our dogs have been amazing and I couldn't be happier with them when it comes to kids. Just to think, food started this bond that the dogs have with Jason, just another outcome of good eats.

One for Maggie

Not thrilled about this paparazzi coming at him with the camera.

I added the picture because I know how sad it makes Maggie if I don't include one. But on to my main topic today........ A Perfect New Store. It doesn't have clothes, but the most perfect thing, food. It is our Safeway. They just remodeled it and had their grand re-opening last weekend. Many of you would love their new organic area (a grocery store on its own), but there were so many great things about this particular store that I can go on and on about it. I will start in the organic section though. In that section they have every kind of food imaginable along with a self serve flour/ rice/ misc dry good section. They have large containers full of every kind of rice, flour, oatmeal, crumbs, etc..... that you can possibly imagine. And you can fill up your own bag with the amount you prefer. The prices are more than reasonable too. Down the way there is a full service butcher. They will cut any meat, grind it if you want, pretty much do anything you need. The store guarantees their service and products and backs it up. Further down is my favorite place in the new store, the bakery. Unlike every other store bakery, they have a stone oven. They make all of the breads fresh and right in front of you. Then they will cut it any way that you want or leave it whole. We bought some cheddar jalapeno bread last weekend and it proves that it is wonderful. To top off an already wonderful thing, the bread is made with organics. Next to the bakery is the sandwich shop where the sandwiches are made with the fresh bread. This is a true jewel in Casper. Something that really makes living here easier.

On a quick side note........... according to the poll most of you think we will have a girl or twins. I must say those of you that said twins are sooooooooo funny. Whatever this baby ends up being we will be happy as long as it is healthy. I personally think it is a girl, but I am not always right. It would be excellent to have another boy though. So, I guess the wait is on. We will find out sooner or later though.......... hopefully sooner than later. Once again name suggestions are all welcome. We need help on that front.

Thanks for the support and help with names. Have a great day everyone.......

Taking a cue from B and B....

Ready to get our hike on.

Our navigator.
Beermaker and Breadmaker take all of these great hikes, so we can't let them have all of the fun. Although Casper doesn't offer any scenes quite as beautiful as those around Meeteetse, we have found a perfect place to bring Jason and the dogs for the day, Muddy Mountain. People always utilize the cross country ski area here, but almost no one makes it to Muddy Mountain. Usually you will only see one or two people on horses and a few cows. The trails are nice so that Jason can walk (if he wants to) and there are picnic tables where we park so that we can have a sit down lunch.

The Moody Men hiding from me.

This is a lot different than Colin and I used to hike on our own, but we have had to make adjustments so that Jason can enjoy one of our favorite pass times in a hands on fashion. We will take him on longer hikes and walks in the backpack, but it is always nice for him to be able to be a big boy and do it on his own. That is why Muddy Mountain has been a great find for us. It is only 20 minutes from our house too. That is even better since Jason hates to ride in the car.

Grooving to the music......... there was no music, he made his own.

Taking a break.
We always try to make the most of our weekends together so a day outside was perfect. The weather was incredible and Jason loves to pick up rocks and tell us about them. It looks like there might be a geologist in the making in our family. I must say that this rock observation make a standard 10 minute hike into a whole hour, but Jason has a blast doing it and I think Colin gets a kick out of it too.

A look from Jason's point of view.

The only wildlife we saw... two turkeys.

Good things always have to come to an end so Saturday evening we headed home to get back to all of our chores around the house. Sunday, Colin and Jason did some painting too. Once again Jason made a big me, but the fun is always worth it. Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Have a wonderful week as well.

The good, the bad, and the really really bad......

I have to say, being pregnant again has really made an impact on Jason as well as myself, but our daily routine has taken the hardest hit. It is difficult enough to not feel well, when chasing a near 20 month old around is added, things get interesting. Our chores have piled up, grocery shopping is a nightmare, even being home and trying to feed Jason meals is a challenge. This will sound strange to those of you that haven't been a sick pregnant person or been around one, but I have to say...... it isn't good. Jason thinks I am crazy and doesn't understand what is going on. He has had a cold too. So he wants my full attention, he doesn't want to see me running to the bathroom. To top off an already tough situation, I am also getting in some mega embarrassing moments.

The day started out with me feeling............... just bad, but a short trip to the grocery store took a turn for the worst when I hit the meat isle. For the faint hearted, turn away now.... don't read on............... I thought I was coping well. Most of the groceries were in my cart and all I needed was a little meat. The second the smell of raw meat hit my nose there was no holding back. Yes, I got sick in the middle of the meat isle. Jason was mortified. His face dropped and he was actually looking around at people all around us. I was mortified as well. That goes down as the most embarrassing moment of my life. Then to top it off this employee with a seeing eye dog comes over to clean it up. It was like a sick sick circus act. I have to say, that was the moment our day hit rock bottom. It is hard to imagine a worse time.

With me feeling so bad, Jason has had to step up and really be a big boy. He wanted a little food, but cooking was not in my near future so I poured him a bowl of cereal and he ate it like a champ. He is such a good boy and has been a great helper, even when I embarrass him.

You would think that when a person feels bad, they will never want to eat..... that is crazy thing about being pregnant, nothing is normal. About 7 last night I was so hungry for a brownie. I had made myself eat a little steak and some rice, I was actually feeling good. The idea of a brownie was strong in this one. So, Colin and Jason got their bake on. They made brownies and white chocolate chip cookies last night.

The Moody Men hard at work.

If you come across Colin or Jason, know how great they are for sticking by me through this (although it is half Colin's fault...... he deserves it just for that). OK, give Jason the much deserved kudos. What a big boy helper. I hope everyone wasn't too grossed out by this one, but I just wanted to let all of you know how great Jason is. Have a good weekend.

Clues......

The rainbow after the storm. If you look closely, you can see part of a second.

In the last week the mornings have seemed crisp and there is a different smell in the air. Up until last weekend we didn't have a fly problem in our house either........... then they came in like gang busters. We now have a fly infestation. Then last night a rain storm came through (we were spared the bad part that Douglas received) and our power went out for the 3rd time this month. It didn't go out for a few minutes, but for over 3 hours. This gave us time to enjoy a few books by candle light (thanks for the candle holders Maggie...... they get used a lot around here), and to watch the rain fall. During this storm is when I noticed another clue. We have 3 yellow leaves on our tree in the front yard. Then we looked at the other trees in the neighborhood and YES there were some yellow leaves there too. Today our high is supposed to be 69, a huge contrast to the 90+ degree weather we saw last week. So, maybe the flies know something we don't know. It seems as though the clues are all pointing to fall. We might have a few hot days between now and then, but even these few breaks show me that cooler weather and beautiful, beautiful snow is headed our way. Hang in there Maggie, you will be skiing before you know it. For those of you that are wondering why I said that we were spared, unlike Douglas...... Evidently they received golf ball to tennis ball sized hail that caused a lot of damage last night. One of Colin's co-workers said it was a mess and left dents all over the company pickup....... So, once again I would like to express how happy I am that we didn't get that kind of hail, just the little pebble kind.

The one good thing about summer, my flowers.

Goodbye Summer and Hello Fall!!!!!

An evening at Mike Lansing.....

Jason checking to see if Hobart was real...... he thought he was and still does.

It seems as though every company has these lame picnics to raise moral. Unlike the standard company summer picnic......... Colin works for a much more adventurous crowd. They bought us tickets to the Casper Rockies (Colorado Rockies farm team) game and also provided our meal before the game began. To top it off they gave every adult 3 vouchers for beer........ so Colin got 6 of course. We anticipated that it would be fun, but we couldn't have predicted how much Jason would love baseball.

After eating we took our seats right behind home plate and it was on..... Jason watched the first three innings without turning away. He watched every pitch, swing and throw. He clapped a lot and didn't even notice the people around him. At the end of the third inning Colin had to get another beer and Jason wanted to go with him. This is when Jason met a new friend.... Hobart (the purple platypus?). As they walked by Hobart, Jason grabbed his bill and wouldn't let go. He was amazed by this huge purple thing. Colin quickly recovered the situation and was able to get a beer. But the rest of the game had a completely new focus for Jason.

Saying hello to Hobart for the umpteenth time.

After meeting Hobart, all Jason wanted to do was talk to him and touch him. So he had to visit again and again.

Everything was OK, even when Hobart took Jason's hat......

After he took Jason's hat (Jason didn't get mad, he was just confused) the night took another turn. The focus was no longer on the mysterious purple mascot with a bill........ he wanted to play with the big kids.

Yelling at a little girl for sitting too close to him.

All was well until a little girl sat too close to Jason. I guess he is really protective of his personal space because she got an ear full. He watched the big kids go up and down the stands for a few minutes and then he decided to join in. He isn't quite as coordinated as the other kids so Colin had to get his chase on.

Colin herding wild man while he runs up and down the stands like the big kids.

3 innings of running all over the place made for two very tired Moody Men. To our surprise, we made it all of the way through the game. Even though the Rockies lost to the White Sox...... the evening was a success. Everyone had a blast and we all were tired and ready for bed. To top off a perfect picnic............. we were given two loafs of bread on the way out of the stadium, the one thing that I needed to get at the grocery store. What an amazing night........... There will be many baseball games in our future.

Even the cute.......

I forgot to post a video of Jason sleeping in the wagon........ well sort of. I hope you enjoy it.

undefined sleepy wagon ride

Add to My Profile More Videos

All of you that look at our blog regularly probably noticed that Jason just takes a good picture. Up until yesterday I thought that he just couldn't take a bad picture. I was proven wrong in such a big way.

Story time turned frightening.

I guess this goes to show that even the cutest of kids can look bad a times. Have a great day everyone........

Sparks

We were excited that Mom and Dad were able to make it down for the weekend. Colin and I didn't have any big projects planned, but Dad wanted at least one project. That is when the decision to install the fan in the living room came about. We have had the fan itself for about 3 months, but hadn't found the time to install it. There wasn't even an overhead light in our living room so this was going to be one large project.

To start the day, Colin and Dad went and played 9 holes then returned to start the fan job. When Mom and I returned from the store they were still making a game plan and they told us that they were going to wait to cut the hole in the ceiling until they were sure they could get power there. Well.................. that was a short lived plan. We went outside for a few minutes and when I came back in for water, there was a hole in the ceiling. Their philosophy was, "If there is a hole made then we will make it happen."

A little electrical work.

The project turned into much more the moment Colin went into the attic. It was super hot and the blow-in insulation wasn't making it more comfortable. After the initial attempt, they decided to open both hatches to the attic and let the swamp cooler do it's job in the attic. After the cooling period...... it was time for them to get down and dirty.

The destruction.

It was like an explosion occurred in our living room. There was blow in insulation and garbage everywhere, but the job was getting done. It took Colin laying down in the blow-in insulation, a lot of sweating, duck walking across the trusses, even one shock............. but we now have light in our living room. It is nice not to have to sit in the dark now after the sun goes down. Thanks for all of the hard work Dad and Colin.

Reading with Grandma.

While the guys did their thing Mom and Jason got some quality time in. They played in the back yard, read books and went for many walks with the wagon. Grandma just goes and goes and poor Jason finally gave into exhaustion.

Grandma makes Jason tired.

On one of their walks, mom noticed that the wagon wasn't turning well. You see, Jason usually helps by leaning into the corners, but to mom's surprise, he had fallen to sleep. To ensure he didn't fall out of the wagon, mom had to buckle his seat belt. They made it back to the house safe, but Jason sure was tired.

A little help from a little boy that can make a huge mess.

When we woke up the next morning we ate on the deck because the weather was amazing. But we couldn't have predicted that the yellow jackets would make their attack. Dad and Colin were swinging their hats around, smashing plates, and occasionally smashing a yellow jacket. It was quite a sight. I wish I had pictures of it, but I guess it will just have to remain in my memories. Jason watched them swinging their hats and smashing them against the table and being the copycat he is, he now does it too. Although he isn't chasing down a yellow jacket, he does get the occasional dog.

Mom and Dad left in the morning after breakfast and we decided that we would start painting in the living room. I know that you can't stop watching Jason for a second, but I did and he dipped his brush in the pain and decided to join in on the fun. He can really make a mess in short order.

Painting, you can see the new fan in this pic too.

We haven't finished the painting yet and probably won't until next weekend, but we sure do love our living room now and are making this house ours with every drop of paint on the walls (even the ones on the floor). I hope all of you have a great week. And I would love it if people would give us suggestions for names, both boy and girl names. Colin and I were at a loss with Jason and was Baby Boy Moody for a while before we finally named him. Suggestions are always welcome here. Have fun everyone.

Oh Ragu!!!!

Jason with his weapon for the evening........ "Big Stick To Hit Dad With!!"

From the title you might be thinking Spaghetti................. Not so much.................... Colin, Jason, and I are pleased to say that we are expecting a new family member. He or she will make an appearance at the end of March or beginning of April. Now to answer the question many of you are probably asking.......Ragu? Well, that is what Colin came up with. Knowing that when I was pregnant with Jason the term "Prego" made me angry, Colin came up with a logical alternative... "Ragu" was born......... the only thing I could do is laugh. So here we are a family of three..... attempting to prep ourselves to adjust into a family of four. We hope all of you are doing well and surviving the heat. Now it is back to playing in the yard and taking advantage of these cool evenings. Enjoy!!!

A fine day

A super tough........ super child out for revenge.

Oh the chair........... This seems to be an ongoing saga in our house. Yesterday, Jason had an unpleasant encounter with "the chair". Most of the time he loves it and enjoys sitting in it to watch his cartoons. As you have seen in previous blogs, he has even fallen to sleep in the chair. Well the peace came to an abrupt end when the chair tipped over with Jason in it causing him to drop his strawberry milk. Not understanding that the whole reason it tipped was because he was leaning to the side, he was out for revenge. It resembled something from one of those fake wrestling shows, but this was real...... the anger was real...... He picked the chair up, holding it above his head (and screaming some sort of death scream), before throwing it down and body slamming it. I have to say it was frightening, but oh so funny. After that he must have considered him and the chair even because he picked it up, placed it in its usual place and sat back down like nothing had happened. A very strange turn of events.......... but very entertaining.

The camera shy Traci.

After the big chair incident Traci came by to enjoy Jason's full time show. She said it is really hard to leave when he is so much fun. Yes...... she comes over to see Jason. I have very little to do with it. He is just so funny that everyone that meets him wants to come back to see what he will do next.

More walking.

It has been cooling off in the evenings, something it hasn't done all summer. So, we have been taking advantage of these beautiful evenings by walking the dogs. Jason loves to point at the horses and antelope too. It is so nice to get back to being outside more, that is until it began to sprinkle....... But that was just a tease, barely enough to make us go back home (we were buffaloed.) I am just keeping my fingers crossed that today is just as nice as yesterday, possible cooler though. I would prefer to stay out of the 90's. Have a great day everyone............

Spider Kid!!

Playing on the deck.
I always talk about how wild Jason is. Well with a little help from Colin, he walked on the walls and the ceiling last night. Yes........ that is our Spider Kid!!! All I could think of was the trailer for the Simpson Movie....... Spider Pig, Spider Pig..........

The sport of wall walking (Mae is not a big fan).

After conquering the walls, the next logical place is the ceiling.....

The fun doesn't stop there.................. Jason decided he had to do some computer work this morning. Little did I know that he was going to change my settings. This is the reason that I am writing my blog so late. My space bar opened new pages, my number keys were permanently on caps, and my mouse only selected multiple things at a time. It was a mess and not an easy fix. Especially since my helper wanted to "assist" in the computers treatment. It is cured for now, but I am sure that it won't be the last time my computer gets sick with help from Jason.

On the acquisition news....... It is all wonderful. The new company rocks and appears to be very motivated. It has ignited a new light in Colin. He is very excited and can't wait to see what happens in the future. The new company is Uranium One Inc. Their web site is http://www.uranium1.com/ for those of you that are interested.

Have a wonderful day!

A done deal

Too good for walking........ A ride on Dads shoulders is much more appropriate.
As Friday came to a close we waited for information on the buy out, but none came. The acquisition was completed, but we don't know any details as of now. Hopefully Colin will find something out today. But there was plenty to do to pass the time.

Saturday the weather was mild and beautiful, so we took advantage of it and walked. Jason is of course a man of luxury........... requesting a ride so that he didn't get stickers in his feet. It was perfect. Colin spent the rest of the weekend finishing small things around the house, like puting closet doors in the other two bedrooms.............. They look great and add a lot to a house. The best part is that they hide my messy closets. Oh and they keep Jason out of the markers in the spare room.................... very difficult to get off of the floor.

On Sunday we went for another walk, but were surprised that it was about 10 degrees warmer than the previous day. The antelope are more annoying when it is hotter out. They followed us, making their grunty noises and stomping. Goofy animals......... I live with Jason, like a little grunting is going to scare me. When we got back from the walk Colin mowed the lawn. It looks so good. I can't believe how much it has changed.

You might be wondering, What did I do while Colin was hard at work. Well, I took my place as supervisor this weekend. I forgot how nice that position really is. Jason is a good supervisor too. He points and yells, quite a tool pusher.

I will be posting info on the acquisition soon.............. hopefully. Have a great week everyone!!!!

A project complete!!!

As you know we have been working on Jason's room a lot since we moved to this house. Yesterday we added to two final components, a new bed and closet doors. I have to say it was an interesting go of it. While Jason and I were at Home Depot getting his closet doors, we got the phone call.......... His bed was in and ready for pickup. I could see the excitement in Jason's face (even though he had no clue what was going on). So we finished getting our supplies and picked the bed up.

Once we arrived at the house, it set in, I had to unload everything by myself. There is only one thing to say about that....... thank God twin beds don't weigh too much. Once we got everything inside, the real excitement started. Jason and I chose to assemble the bed first. Everything went really smoothly until we attempted to assemble the side rail (that we bought separately). We needed a screw driver for this project. For those of you that recall one of my previous blogs............ Jason + screwdriver = DANGER!!!!!! I started to lay out all of the parts and didn't notice that Jason had grabbed the screwdriver and was coming toward me. I understand that he thinks I have a loose screw, but lord almighty that hurt when he stabbed me in the side. After recovering the weapon and starting work on the rail I came to the harsh realization that that rail was not going to fit the bed. It was just a minor set back. What do you do when something doesn't fit........ Make It!!!!! What do you use........ Duct Tape!!!!!! Needless to say, it worked out perfectly and looks like it was made for the bed.

Always wear protection on your head when working..... hence the wicker hard hat.

By the time I finished that project Colin had arrived, home from work. After a quick dinner break, we went on to finish the final project for his room.................closet doors. With terrible instructions, even worse drawings, the only way to explain this project was improvise. Using what little information Colin got from the instructions he conquered the closet doors. Though they were put up a few times before it finally worked. Thank goodness that is finished. I think Colin would have went completely gray if it hadn't of.

Hard at work.

In the end we were left with one very dirty room. So, it was clean up time. With Jason this means that it is on........... He feels the need to try to dirty a room as fast as you try to clean. A very fun game for him, but in true mom fashion, I won..................

A little reading time, thanks for the book Maggie!!!

After getting everything picked up it was time to try out the bed with a short reading session with Dad. Jason was super excited and couldn't stop smiling. But the real question is.... How did he sleep? Well, this morning at 7 am (he usually gets up at 5 or 5:30) we realized that his crib mattress on the floor must have been extra uncomfortable because he was still sleeping. He finally woke up at 7:15. Thank You Denver Mattress for the comfy bed. It helps us sleep much better.

Good friends

Dan, Brady, and Maddie............. Moe wants to be a part of their family, but she is stuck with us.
Last night we were delighted that the Dalens could make it over for a visit. Dan rolled in with Maddie and Brady one last time before they have to make their way back to Wisconsin for the school year. I can't believe the summer is already coming to an end.

Brady and Maddie with Jason.
Jason showed off his dancing skills for all of us last night, that is if he wasn't chasing one of the Dalens around. I feel bad for Maddie and Brady though, they didn't just have Jason hanging off of them, but the dogs too. You see...... when the kids come over not only does Jason get excited, but the dogs do too. Our house becomes a wild animal cage and poor Brady and Maddie are stuck in the middle of it. When they first walked in the door, Jason was so excited that he ran up to Maddie just to show her is muscle. What a crazy kid...... already flirting with all of the ladies. That was just the tip of the iceberg too. He chased Brady around for most of the night. He already wants to be a big kid and Brady is so cool, therefore, Brady didn't get a break.

Maddie and Moe.
The evening was a success and we will miss Brady and Maddie very much........ But, we look forward to next year, even though they both will probably have outgrown me. It is a bummer being short.

Brady and Jason living the good life......Peace......

Dentist and Golf

It is almost worse to anticipate a trip to the dentist than it is to actually go. As I played with Jason in the reception area I could hear the crew hard at work on Colin's mouth. The sounds are terrible and made me cringe. Jason passed the time by doing belly flops on the floor. He just didn't seem to be intimidated by the strange place and the sounds. I was freaking out..........

We hadn't been to the dentist in years so I was expecting the worst. Jason had never been in a dentist office either, so I thought it was going to be a true rodeo. He wasn't going to have a checkup, but he did have to watch us get worked on. Overall, it was a success. The dentist, yes the man with the degree and all of the training held Jason while I got my x-rays and Colin was getting his teeth cleaned. Jason put up quite a fight, kicking and screaming in the poor mans face, but all was well. All of us were shocked to see the professional in the office babysitting, but it worked out for the best. Once the x-rays were finished, Jason sat on my lap brushing his teeth while my teeth were cleaned. If you can't picture this here goes....... I am tilted so far that my head is a good 6 inches lower than my butt and Jason is sitting on my stomach. Seeing the hygenist pick at my mouth was overly tempting for Jason so on occasion he attempted to assist by puting his toothbrush in my mouth. It was soooooooooo much fun. You might be wondering where Colin was during this......... well, he had a little more done on his mouth than I did and his visit was much more uncomfortable than mine. It just wouldn't have been fare to have him hold Jason too.

Most people that haven't been to the dentist in 7 or more years most likely would expect to have cavities if not more. Well.............. Lucky us!!! No cavities. But, all of these years I have believed that I have no wisdom teeth. Well, the harsh reality is that I have two..... Two!!! Not only are they there, but horizontal and buried in my gums. So, I guess I will have to go in for a quick oral surgery before I will be cleared by the dentist.............. don't know when I will do that though. I learned that it isn't good to wait that long to go to the dentist though. It would be much easier to go on a regular basis. Even though we waited too long between visits, everything turned out for the best and Jason did so well that I will be bragging about yesterdays visit for a long time to come.

After returning home Jason and I decided that there isn't really a better activity to top off a rough morning of getting picked at than swinging a club. Jason has been working on his golf swing as you can see in the video. We prefer him swinging at the ball instead of us or the dogs though. I think I might need to take lessons from our new expert. He does like to tell everyone how to hold a club. I will try to get that on video sometime so that everyone can enjoy it. I hope all of you are having an excellent week. Take care and I will have more stories for you very soon.

Who do you work for?

After much talk in the past of buy outs and getting used to new companies, well......it is upon us once again. It appears that on August 10th Colin will officially be working for Uranium One Inc. For those of you counting this will be his 3rd company, with the same position. It is obvious that buy outs are the way of the world in the Uranium business. But, as always it looks to be a very good change. With a new company there are always more opportunities because when it comes to buy outs.... you are sure that the company that you will be working for is larger and further ahead than your current company. So now we will wait and see if another one of these buy outs is in Colin's future (hopefully longer than 6 months this time).

Proving that napping in a comfy chair isn't solely for old men, it is a good fit for Jason too.
While we are waiting for the details of this transition to a new company the best thing to do is keep busy. So today I kept true to this philosophy and Jason and I have knocked a few projects off of our list. First off the yard is mowed again (I stopped counting the number of times it has been mowed). After receiving over 3 inches of rain in a 48 hour period of time it was super wet. As most of you know, this is not common for Wyoming and was quite shocking to us. So, I had to leave my yard to grow until it could dry. Well, today when I mowed it was knee high. I have to say I have never mowed a yard quite that tall before (one that was grass and not weeds that is). It is so lush and tall that the mower about died every time I took a step. Jason napped during this long and drawn out project, but even without his valuable assistance the job was completed.

Taping off the trim, notice the tongue.
The second phase of our day was painting the trim in Jason's bedroom and puting up a few extra decorations (SPONGEBOB!!). It was such a fun job since I had excellent company, Jason. He helped from the beginning to the end of that project. He even has some paint on his leg to prove it. I also came to the realization that dark colors in a young child's room is a good thing. He thought that since I was able to paint (he thought I was coloring), that he should use his crayons to add a little spice to his room. So, he proceeded to color all over the walls with random crayons. To my delight, they don't show up on the dark blue.... WOOOOO!!!!!HOOOO!!!!!!!! One less thing to clean up today. The room looks a little better, but next on the list is getting his new bed set up when it arrives and puting doors on his closet. This will all happen in good time.............we hope. I will post pictures of the finished product, well at least after the bed comes.

Hanging the border.

Friends

Last weekend was very interesting. We really didn't accomplish much due to the fact that no one in our house was healthy, but it did give me a lot of time to think. This won't make sense to some of you, but I think a lot of people can relate.

Friends are always an important part of a persons life. These blogs help many friends keep in touch and help us make new friends. We all exchange stories and thoughts to give others an idea of what is going in our worlds between phone calls or e-mails. The friends that don't have blogs have a more difficult time keeping in touch, but remember it is a two way street.....if only one side is puting forth effort it doesn't work. People will grow apart and that is just sad and it is a shame that good friends can let that happen. But after a while the one person that tries will give up because it is obviously a wasted effort!!! Thanks for the blog idea again Maggie and Cody.........I love it and enjoy keeping in touch with everyone. My family loves it too because they can see pics and hear stories that they wouldn't hear any other way. But, I don't think they will be blogging any time soon. I am working on my mom and sis though.

On another friend note..... Just because someone moves, changes occupations, gets married, or has kids...............IT DOESN'T CHANGE WHO THEY ARE!!!!!!!!! They are still the same person you have always known. That person's daily activities might change, but they are still the same. I have found that this is a common misconception (though it sounds rediculouse). If you are a friend, you are interested in keeping in touch no matter what happens and you are always there when it counts, even if you are just there to talk long distance.

I know that I usually have such chipper posts, but I had to vent to all of you that will listen. I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. We are going to make sure our week goes well. Make the best of what you have!!!!! That is what we live by. Thanks to all of you that are always there to listen and I wish everyone the best. I will have a happy post about today's activities (oh the list is long) tomorrow..........................

Rainy Opportunity

As most of you know Wyoming is known for many things..... Cowboys, Yellowstone, being dry.......... Well I have to say things changed quickly last night. We marked one of those off of the list about 9 last night. The rain started................ The cracking of the thunder was so loud that our house was shaking and you could see the light flashing the instant the sound overtook the area. It was so big and so close we almost didn't notice the stuff falling from the sky. IT WAS RAIN!!!!!! There was water rushing down the street like it was a river and it just kept on coming down. By about 9:30 it was so loud and scary that I decided I would just go to sleep before the power went out that way I wouldn't have to be awake for that part of the storm (we just knew it would happen). Going to sleep sounds so easy, but it isn't when there is so much noise and light coming through a window, but somehow I accomplished this feat. This morning we woke up to news reports saying that we broke a daily rainfall record......... better yet we crushed it. Before last night the record was .71 in and after that big storm it now stands at 2.21 inches...........Yes we got a lot of rain really fast. But all I can think is thank goodness I didn't water before that came down........... it would have been a waste of money.

So, being the crazy people we are we decided to capitalize on the cool wet weather that we are experiencing. You see, we have a wasp problem. It isn't the first time this has been an issue...... last year was quite a rodeo in that area. I will start there.

Last summer we had a lot of wasps around. Since I am deathly allergic it made for a frightening situation. They had made a huge nest along the foundation of the house. During one rain storm, Colin decided to spray them. Although there were many laying there dead, there was one resilient wasp out for revenge..........and he knew who killed his friends. Colin wanted to run into the house, but he had this angry wasp that he couldn't get off of him. Finally after weaving through the patio furniture he made the decision to come into the house ( I think the trail of wasps following him was good motivation.) When he got into the house I was holding Jason and trying to kill the wasp that clung to him. I brushed it loose, but then it made its way to Colin's neck stinging him. Colin mashed it like a mosquito and all I could do was laugh. It was so funny.

On the attack.

So, when we had a nest appear this year Colin was very apprehensive to go on the attack, but this rain offered a perfect time. Unlike last year it was a success. He sprayed it then knocked it down with a shovel before spraying it again. I think he was more prepared.

I know this is a long post, but hey that is me...... I hope you all have a wonderful waspless weekend. Later...............

My big boy.....Growing up too fast (he doesn't even look like a baby anymore), he took this one himself.
