Duck hunt

We promised Jacob that he could go duck hunting with the guys if he went potty in the toilet all of the time. Today was his day. Both boys got up early and they were ready to hunt!

Here they are excited and ready to rock.

Here is Jacob in the duck blind.

They had so much fun... Now on to Halloween fun.

All ready for their Halloween party!

Carving faces

With Halloween just around the corner it is time to carve some pumpkins. This year we grew some big ones so we picked 4 and had at it.

The boys were ready to dive in.

They loved drawing the faces. Little did they know they were about to get their hands dirty.

Jake was not impressed at first. Colin had to put his hand in the pumpkin for him. Then it was on. He even wanted to Help me clean mine.

Jason put on a tough face and dug in. It was obvious he didn't want to but he wasn't going to be shown up by his little brother.

The pumpkins were very thick. We had to use an extra long knife to carve them.

Here is the finished product.

The boys are so proud. It was a great evening. :) Can't wait for halloween!

End of summer! Let the cold begin!

This summer has been full of fun and excitement. Last time I reported we lost our boat prop and I am proud to say it has been found... We also bought an extra just in case.

It seems as though the summer passed us by in the blink of an eye. Before we knew it Jason was starting his first day of kindergarten and shortly after Jacob started kiddie kollege. Both boys are so smart and talented. They enjoy school more than we could have imagined. Jason is already starting to read and Jake can almost write his name on his own. Those boys are growing up fast.

I don't want to ramble on for this entire post so I will tell the stories with pictures and captions.

Jacob is very enthusiastic about super hero's now. Here he is saving spiderman while we wait for Jason to get home from school.

Our garden was quite productive this year so the boys helped as much as they could when it came to canning or cooking.

As you can see we had a lot of cucumbers to pickle.

A cousin brought a few cases of peaches from Colorado so I was elbow deep on peaches for a very long time.

An evening roasting marshmallows in the back yard.

Jason's first day of elementary school!

This year we planted a dwarf peach tree in our front yard. The poor thing looks like a stick with a few leaves but we got these from it. They taste great!

In the spring I saw dinner plate sunflower seeds. I planted them and we got these beauties.

Here is our pumpkin patch.

Out on the boat blending in with the fish.

Jake's first day of school! He was pumped!

Our goofy wild men..

Jason got to go with the men on the first goose hunt of the season! He considers himself an official member of the duck club now and doesn't fail to let everyone at school know that on a daily basis.

We were crazy enough to plant habaneros this year. They are fire!

Here are the guys with our pumpkin crop.

Even though we have grown our own pumpkins jake got another at the pumpkin patch here in town.

Here is jake with Moe. He had lost her weeks before this and we had given up hope in finding her so we even bought a new one. Jake was so happy when he found her. :)

I bet you were wondering what I did with those habaneros.... I made hot sauce. The other two jars are spaghetti sauce I made from our tomatoes. Both are quite tasty.

For those of you that wonder what we do on a lazy day..... We play! Here are the boys with their mustaches. Jason said they were cops. Jacob said he was a teacher. Go figure.

With the weather changing we have been sneaking in as much outdoor fun as possible. Here are my guys climbing monument hill.

This is the view of Thermopolis from the top.

Pausing for a group pic.

Signing the guest book is a must when you hike up there.

This brings you up to date for now. As you can see we have been having a great time. Colin is staying busy at work and all of this canning and herding kids keeps me on my toes. I am hoping my canning season is coming to a close, but it sure has been fun. Now to prepare for the holiday season. Next week Halloween.... Then on to the biggies. Take care everyone. We missed you.
