4th continued: Forcast- Indegestion

The USA is known for so many different things, but one thing that stands out is that our population is so much more overweight than any other. Our eating habits are addressed on a regular basis by health professionals world wide. So, until today it always baffled me as to why an American didn't win the famous Nathan's hot dog eating contest that none other than Kobayashi is so famous for dominating. But, today the yellow belt stays here on American soil.

YES!!!! Kobayashi consumed an incredible 63 hot dogs, but Joey Chestnut came in with a whopping 66. A new world record, beating his previous record set in June at 59 1/2.

It was such a close contest throughout and i saw something on TV that I have never seen broadcast and hope to never see it again. In the eating world there are some terms that are used to make disgusting things less.........well.......disturbing. I am referring to the term reversal. I will save you all from the description of this term, but its meaning was obvious during the contest. Only in the eating world could you see a reversal and then see someone proceed to consume that reversal. If that wasn't disturbing enough......it was followed up by a slow motion replay. I do like the fact that the play by play man threw in the quick blip about avoiding what in the eating world is called the spray zone.

Despite the shocking end.......it was a contest that had Jason and I on the edge of our seats. Now I guess it will be another year of anticipation...........

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!!!

Today many of you are enjoying your day off celebrating with good food, friends, and we can't leave out the good drinks (in the Warner house this is probably home brew). It is a time to reflect on how lucky we are to be free and to have the wonderful people that we care about here with us. We are planning on doing the same not today because Colin has to work, but this weekend. But we did want to wish all of you a happy and safe 4th.

Now for the newest chapter in Jason's book of strange and funny things.................. Last night he went down for the night around 9:30. We though he was down for the count and in a way he was. About 1 this morning I heared a very loud crash right next to my head. To my suprise it was Jason smashing into my bed side table. He didn't make a peep, and just kept on crashing into it. I was out of bed in a flash and proceeded to pick him up. To my suprise he was still snoring. Our son......though only 18 months old............is now sleep walking. I brought him back to his room and layed him in his bed. I even changed his diaper, but he never even tried to wake up. I have a feeling that this might lead to many exciting late night adventures in the future.

Well trained child or father? You can decide that one.

Another funny little tid bit on the list of new and exciting tricks of Jasons is highlighted in the video above. I was getting his pjs out of his drawer when Colin yelled..............."YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!!!" I quickly made my way to the bathroom to see Colin washing Jason's feet. I don't know who really should be considered trained. On one hand, it saves Colin a little work. But on the other Jason doesn't even have to stop reading his book. I think Jason wins this one.

Blast from the past

A little football fun.

Oh the memories...................... As you all know, Colin and I loved our time in college. We made great friends and had an opportunity to do things that we had never done before. Many of the memories we made have something to do with football games and the activities surrounding them. Oh the fun.......

Every morning Colin watches Sports Center to catch up on the happenings in the world of sports. Usually he gets excited about baseball and of course always points out when someone on his fantasy team does something great. But, yesterday morning he was going on about something different. Evidently Casey Bramlet has really matured as a player. He played in the World Bowl on Saturday June 23rd and had an amazing game, throwing for 347 yards and four touchdowns in the highest scoring World Bowl ever. He snagged the honor of MVP and helped bring Hamburg to its first Europa Championship (according to the associated press). I can't help but think that this is pretty amazing and even better since he is just a Wyoming boy.

Things sure have changed since those days at UW. I just want to say WOOOOO!!!HOOOO!!!! for Casey Bramlet and every one else out there that has found success in what they are doing. Congrats and have a great day.................

Braving the heat

Filling the pool aka: working on the sprinkler system

For those of you that watch the weather channel as much as I do.......you know that it is super hot here in Casper. We have hit the 90's ever day for a few weeks even 100 one day. To top it off there hasn't been any rain. So, it has been a task trying to keep the yard green. We have a sprinkler system in the front, but it wasn't functional. This weekend that was priority number one. To celebrate the fact that Jason was officially 18 months old on Saturday the project began.

While Colin suffered through the heat, digging holes and cutting poly, Jason did some work of his own. He thinks he helped a lot, but as you can see his verson of helping includes filling his pool and watering Mae. Yes......he thinks that dogs need to be watered like plants, externally.

Nothing like a rest after a good swim.

After spending a few hours in 90+ degree heat it was time for a nap. Of course the bed wasn't good enough, but the floor had his name on it.

Sleeping bag ($95), Captain Crunch ($.25), Juice ($.10), Cable ($$$$$$ too much), watching cartoons from a box with all the food and drink you can stand........Priceless!!!

We are planning camping trip to be executed in a few weeks. So this weekend we had to find some supplies. This included a sleeping bag. Jason was so excited when we got home, not to look at the cool new stuff, but for us to get it out of the boxes so that he could climb in. There is nothing quite like a box in a little ones mind. He just has everything figured out. Jason is only 18months old but the terrible twos are here to stay. He runs around telling us NO!!! among so many other things. It is a wild time in the Moody house. There is going to be a lot happening this week......I can feel it in my bones.

Cactus Dreams!!!!

In the front yard after a long day!

It was a hot, dusty Wyoming day. That destinctive sunscreen smell hung all around us like fog settles into a valley. The temperature had hit 93 degrees and the water jug was such a welcome sight. Despite the heat and lack of vegetation it was like a good dream.

The road was bumpy and you could hear little giggles coming from the front of the four wheeler. It was Jason laughing at his efforts to change it into reverse on the fly (obviously a bad idea, but it still got laughs.)

If you are wondering what I am talking about, yesterday Jason and I had a front row seat to see what Colin does out in the field every day. When he came home for lunch he invited us to go out with him and stake holes. We packed up enough supplies and headed out. As we drove north the scenery quickly changed from a river bottom with trees to old sand dunes covered in prickly vegetation. The cactus was thick and so were the burs. This didn't slow us down though.

We had a day of visiting and trying new things. Jason learned that you don't just run through a cactus patch and decided that riding on shoulders was his transportation of choice......when we are foot anyway. He also had the chance to ride on his first four wheeler (His overall favorite way of getting around). It was a new adventure him.

By the time the day came to an end the three Moodys were sapped by the heat and so ready for bed. I apologize for not bringing the camera....I missed some really good photo ops. So, for now I will let you go using one of Jason's many new phrases............."I be seeing you!!!"(picture a big Beverly Hillbilly wave too.)
